James E. Wasenmiller, MD

Dr. Wasenmiller received his medical degree from Loma Linda University and completed his internship, residency and fellowship in cardiology at the Affiliate Hospitals of the University of California. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and fellowship trained in Cardiovascular Disease.

Dr. Wasenmiller was the first cardiologist to ever practice in Salem, opening a medical practice as a solo practitioner in 1980. Soon thereafter, he invited other cardiologists to join him and Salem Cardiology Associates, PC was born. He has served as President of the group since its inception and has led its growth and expansion to become Salem CardioVascular Associates, PC today.

Dr. Wasenmiller has been instrumental in bringing critical heart-related services, such as angioplasty and open heart surgery, to our community. Serving for years as Medical Director for various programs and services at Salem Hospital, Dr. Wasenmiller's vision of excellent heart care close to home has been at the foundation of building nationally recognized heart services in our region.

Dr. Wasenmiller currently serves on the Salem Hospital Foundation Board of Directors. He is married, has four grown children, and an increasing number of grandchildren. In his spare time he enjoys woodworking, fine wine, and spending time with family throughout the Pacific Northwest.
