Dr. Leichman received his medical degree from the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. He completed his residency in General Internal Medicine at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center associated with Tufts University in Massachusetts. He did a two year research fellowship in cardiac metabolism at the University of Texas, Houston Medical School prior to his General Cardiology Fellowship at the same institution. He completed his subspecialty cardiology training in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
Dr. Leichman believes in advancing the field of cardiology and electrophysiology through research and patient education. Dr. Leichman is an advocate of using the most up to date and proven technologies to treat abnormal heart rhythms and heart failure. He understands the need to involve patients in the decision making process regarding their disease process and its treatment, in order to help improve their overall health status.
Dr. Leichman has participated in a National Institute of Health-sponsored research protocol examining the altered metabolism of obesity and its effects on heart failure, and has co-authored a number of peer-reviewed papers and review articles. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and is a member of the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association and the Heart Rhythm Society.
Dr. Leichman serves as the Medical Director of the Oregon Heartbeat Clinic, Salem CardioVascular Associates’ new “clinic within a clinic” for people with implanted cardiac devices. In his free time, Dr. Leichman enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. He also enjoys photography and spending time outdoors.
